China competed in two round robin contests at the World Women's Curling Championship in Uijeongbu, South Korea, on Tuesday, defeating Italy 8-7 and losing to Norway 9-8, to take the team's record to 3-3.
Both China and Italy played cautiously in a scoreless first end. Italy stole the first point of the contest in the second, but the lead didn't last long, as China scored four times over the next two ends.
The points continued to pile up as the two teams kept scoring, and they found themselves deadlocked at 7-7 after nine ends.
The Chinese ladies stiffened their defense in the 10th end, leaving no chance for the Italians to score. Meanwhile, Wang Rui executed a perfect delivery that sent her stone directly onto the button, sealing the one-point victory for China.
Later in the day, China faced Norway, which took an early lead after scoring twice in the second end. The Chinese curlers fought hard to come back and tied the score at 8-8 in the ninth. But Norway scored once again in the 10th end to clinch its fourth win from seven games.
